Wake Up Call for Sports Fans Everywhere, Especially in Seattle
I am interrupting the MLB Midseason Reports because I believe this topic is very important and should be brought to the attention of sports fans everywhere. As you may now know, the Seattle SuperSonics will no longer be an NBA franchise. The Sonics are headed to Oklahoma City starting next season and will have a new name and new team colors. The city of Seattle took this franchise for granted and did not give the support that this team desperately needed. The owner of the Sonics did what he had to do and packed his bags and is on his way to Oklahoma City where new fans eagerly await an NBA team. Oklahoma City got a taste of an NBA team when the New Orleans Hornets moved there temporarily during Hurricane Katrina. Oklahoma City will be a great spot for this team. The Sonics have young talent in F Kevin Durant, F Jeff Green, new rookie G Russell Westbrook, G Earl Watson, and C Nick Collison. This team can succeed in a few years and the people of Oklahoma City will appr! eciate this team.
The city of Seattle did not support their team when they struggled. This resulted in the franchise moving to another city eager just to have a team. The people of Seattle took their team for granted, and now have lost their team. This should be a wake up call for fans everywhere. It does not matter how bad your team is, stay loyal or you could lose them forever. The good people of Seattle are learning this lesson the hard way. So my message to all of you is please do not take your sports teams for granted, or someday what happened to these Seattle fans could happen to you.
